1) Packed with protein, fiber, vitamins ... and it's gluten-free! - If you are looking at buying quinoa, you probably already know that it's good for you, but you may be questioning how the heck you can actually EAT it! :) Quinoa makes an excellent substitute for rice, but you can do so much more with this "superfood!" For breakfast, you can easily incorporate this grain into pancakes, muffins or you can even eat it like you would a bowl of oatmeal (with maple syrup, nuts, berries, or whatever your favorite add-ins are). It incorporates very well into most soaps, stews and pasta salads, and there are literally hundreds of recipes online for making all kinds of desserts with quinoa, everything from pudding, to dessert bars, to quinoa chocolate cake!

Personally, one of my favorite ways to use quinoa is to mix it into veggie burgers! The quinoa really gives them a nice texture and helps to hold the burgers together, plus it is considered a complete protein source and you get 24g of protein per (uncooked) cup of quinoa. This recipe from Can You Stay for Dinner has been by-far the best quinoa burger recipe I have tried so far (apologies in advance for the all caps), but I usually double it for my family of 5 so we (usually) have leftovers! :) I also sub red onions for scallions and often throw in some red and/or green sweet peppers as well!

LOADED QUINOA VEGGIE BURGERS
YIELD: 4 SERVINGS
SERVING SIZE: 1 PATTY
NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION PER SERVING: CALORIES 230, FAT 6G, CARB 34G, FIBER 9G, SUGARS 2G, PROTEIN 11G

INGREDIENTS
1/2 CUP UNCOOKED QUINOA
1 CARROT, DICED
4 SCALLIONS, SLICED
2 CLOVES GARLIC
15 OUNCES CAN BLACK BEANS, DRAINED AND RINSED
1/4 CUP ITALIAN SEASONED DRIED BREADCRUMBS
1 LARGE EGG, LIGHTLY BEATEN
1 TABLESPOON GROUND CUMIN
¾ TEASPOON SALT
½ TEASPOON PEPPER
1 TABLESPOONS OLIVE OIL


INSTRUCTIONS
IN A SMALL POT, BRING 3/4 CUP WATER TO A BOIL. ADD QUINOA, COVER, AND REDUCE HEAT TO LOW. COOK UNTIL LIQUID IS ABSORBED, 12 TO 14 MINUTES; SET ASIDE.
IN A FOOD PROCESSOR, PULSE CARROT UNTIL FINELY CHOPPED. ADD COOKED QUINOA, SCALLIONS, GARLIC, BEANS, BREADCRUMBS, EGG, CUMIN, SALT, AND PEPPER; PULSE UNTIL COMBINED BUT STILL SLIGHTLY CHUNKY. FORM THE MIXTURE INTO FOUR EVEN PATTIES.
IN A LARGE NONSTICK SKILLET, HEAT THE OIL OVER MEDIUM; COOK BURGERS UNTIL BROWNED, ABOUT 8 MINUTES PER SIDE.


These cook up so well and everyone in my family - from my 20 month old son, to my 6 & 8 year old daughters and even my carnivorous husband all gobble these burgers up! :)

I really like that the Nutria White Quinoa is certified-organic and it comes nicely sealed in a bag so I don't have to worry about all of the sticky kid (and adult!) hands that may have come in contact with it like I do when I buy it in bulk from the health food store! :) It does come in a resealable bag which is nice for storage. The only thing it's really missing is a freshness date, but I may have overlooked it. Complimentary sample provided to test, evaluate and honestly review.

2) This versatile Nutria Organic Royal White Quinoa tastes a lot better than I expected it would! - Never having tasted Quinoa before, I had a bit of reservation when offered the opportunity to received this Nutria Organic Royal White Quinoa in exchange for testing and offering my honest and unbiased opinion.
I had heard good things about how nutritious it is and that it was a great substitute for rice, but I didn't even know how to say the word, so I did a bit of research.
I now know to pronounce it "keen-wah".
I decided the best way to find out if I liked it was to accept the offer and cook some up and am I ever glad I did!
I was glad to see you cook it pretty much the same as you cook rice. 1 part Quinoa to 2 parts water, bring it to a boil, then cover and simmer till the water is absorbed.
When cooked and eaten out of the pot, it has a bit of a nutty flavor. The texture is a mix between creamy and crunchy.
I am making the transition to a gluten free diet and this Nutria Organic Royal White Quinoa is so versatile that I am certain I will be using it in many different recipes.
There are several delicious sounding recipes available on the internet and I look forward to trying them out.
Low in calories (155 per 1/4 cup serving, only 12 fat calories), a great source of fiber, carbohydrates and protein, plus it even adds a bit of calcium and iron to my daily intake.
It comes in a Resealable Pouch and the 16 oz size is plenty enough for me to prepare several meals.
Truth is it tastes pretty good and I am so glad I decided to try something new!
Giving it my highest recommendation!
